Interview: RMS virtual congress
A virtual success
Adam Clay, Finance Director at the Royal Microscopical Society, tells us how they have successfully managed their flagship event, fully online for the very first time.
The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2021 hosted 180 sessions for over 1200 attendees, 6 simultaneous live streams and 51 exhibitors. The numbers were big for this five day event and so was the challenge of organising it all online.
Watch the full interview with Adam below, and find out all the details about RMS’s success story.
Thanks to the all-in-one association management system ReadyMembership all-in-one platform including eventfolio the RMS team was able to deliver an extremely successful event which gained the appreciation of the 230 speakers involved as well as attendees and commercial partners.
“We managed the Q&A sessions better than we ever did in person, thanks to the Live Chat functionality. There was very positive feedback from attendees, who found it really easy to switch between sessions, making the overall virtual experience as effective as the face-to-face one.”
Attendees were able to use Live Chat and Q&A functionalities on the congress website during every session - giving attendees an interactive experience.
Contrary to what people could think, this level of interaction is not always achievable on a live event. As Adam points out, time constraints and logistical challenges can often shorten Q&A sessions , meaning all attendees aren’t able to take part.
All of the Congress sessions are now available to attendees on demand, which makes the follow up a lot easier to manage and much more effective for all parties involved.
The ReadyMembership team gathered all information about exhibitors in advance and upload the content they wanted to be featured on their virtual stands. oon exhibitors will be able to manage their own stand independently, before and during the event.
