Member Engagement briefing at the Shard

Increasing member engagement is something that most membership organisations are striving for. Yet, the way in which this is achieved can vary hugely depending on individual audience requirements.

The eclectic mix of organisations at our recent breakfast briefing, hosted by Memcom UK, made the diversity of their membership bases apparent.

"What do your members want to get out of their membership?"

This and more was discussed during the 1.5 hour session, presented by Pixl8’s CEO Alex Skinner, Marketing Strategist Lucy Conlan, and CEO of Results Direct; Russ Magnuson. We explored what member engagement really means in the context of changing expectations towards digital and current trends like personalisation.

It’s all about sharing. Something that we particularly love about these sort of events is that they provide a platform for collaborative learning. We had great contributions from our audience; sharing their experiences with one another and pointing out individual challenges.

During the Q&A, we looked at:

  • Ways to start a membership scheme
  • Justifying digital membership programmes for an audience that’s primarily offline
  • The difference in device usage throughout the day, for different demographics
