What they wanted
Leyton College wanted a fully responsive online platform for students and staff, where all important news, notices and information could be published in real time.
The main objective was to provide easy access to the site for students via mobile deviced. Then to integrate the platform with Facebook and Twitter, to provide up-to-the-minute information on exams, apprenticeships, careers and college clubs and societies. It was also crucial that the new site would be simple for staff with little technical knowledge to operate, so they could post information quickly, without increasing workload.
We delivered
Since the website went live, consultation groups with staff and students have generated positive feedback from staff and students. Comments include that information is better organised and easier to find, and have benefitted from accessible links to useful resources like Moodle, the online course management system.
It's now simple for prospective students to get in touch online and request a prospectus. The website has delivered on Leyton's goal to publicise student information, notices and events such as awards ceremonies. The website is now the place to look for UCAS information, revision workshops and all the extra-curricular activities such as London and overseas trips and information on clubs and societies such as the Film Club, Chess Club, drama, creative writing and debating societies.
College staff are also happy with the new system. They can post up content about their subjects, including videos. In fact, there’s now a greater incentive for students to work hard as staff will put good work on the website.
