FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards (FSB Awards)
The FSB Awards is a highlight of the small business calendar, offering recognition to small businesses and the self-employed in the UK.
Each year, it holds twelve regional finals across the UK, as well as a UK final held in London. As a not-for-profit organisation, the purpose of the FSB is to celebrate the achievements of small businesses, for members and non-members alike.
We're pleased that the result of our work has enabled FSB Awards to win a Special Award for their Use of Event Technology at the Association UK Awards. Working with the team at FSB has been a great experience and we're looking forward to much more in future.
What FSB Awards wanted
FSB’s primary objective was to have a fully functioning awards website fast. Pixl8 pulled out the stops to achieve this in approximately ten weeks from first contact to go-live. By choosing to combine the well-honed and established Preside CMS and eventfolio, FSB would benefit from heightened flexibility and dynamic scope.
There were two distinct challenges. First; the project needed to cover a breadth of requirements, particularly multi-level access for FSB admin, judges, entrants, and delegates booking tickets. Second; the new solution had to support table planning for FSB's twelve regional finals across the UK, as well as a London final.
We delivered
FSB Awards were empowered to deliver a highly successful events platform, where participants and judges alike were able to access permissions-based levels of information as required by their role. FSB Awards also staff found themselves with increased back-office function to create and amend website content on a regular basis - saving both time and money.
Seamless dual-platform integration
Our compound Preside CMS and eventfolio solution offered FSB enhanced insight into (and control over) a range of crucial metrics and user responses.
A bespoke multi-level access solution
With the flexibility of Preside’s advanced Rule Engine at their disposal, FSB Awards staff were able to set access levels for different users - including judges, entrants, and their own administrative staff. This not only increased security site-wide, but simplified the judging process, and empowered FSB staff to undertake web building/content management activities of their own accord.
Pixl8 has enabled FSB to go above and beyond the expectations of our partners, sponsors, and judges. The successful completion of this project has empowered our teams to manage and edit web content themselves without the need for developers, and sped up the event management process by introducing innovative systems to transform our everyday reality.
Scalable table planning
Pixl8 delivered an innovative, bespoke table planning solution. FSB staff can pull off data instantly, segment attendees, and visualise table plans with ease - transforming a formerly onerous process into a simple task.
WorldPay integration
Our WorldPay API integration was ready ahead of time for FSB, enabling them to report back financially as soon as the site went live. They were able to immediately benefit from enhanced financial reporting on a far more granular level, with metrics like ticket income, income by area, and event ROI easily ascertained.
And then some
When we first kicked off this project with FSB, our primary focus was to provide them with a dual-functionality website and events management platform capable of meeting their needs, and simplifying existing processes.
As the scope evolved it became clear that FSB would benefit hugely from bespoke table planning element, which we designed to replace its existing process: Excel spreadsheets and an old, inflexible software package.
Because both VIPs, members, and non-members attend the awards, this innovative approach to table planning has empowered FSB to ensure the right people are sitting in the right places at each event.
The implementation of Preside CMS and eventfolio has had a far-reaching impact. Judges praise the one-stop-shop information style functionality, progress checking, stop and start, saving, and single-sign-on (SSO) elements. Sponsors and third parties are now able to access sponsor packs on the site itself, increasing reach and opportunities for FSB.
Results
Since the project went live, FSB have not only matched their entries from the year before but seen an increase of over 10%. They have also attracted over 50,000 new visitors to the Awards site, and generated 7,826 registrations onsite thanks to Preside CMS’s advanced capacity for GDPR-compliant data capture.
