New FSB website - supporting Britain's businesses
Digital website and transformation
Pixl8 has helped the Federation of Small Businesses deliver several projects as part of an ongoing digital transformation project. It began with the FSB Awards platform which won a AAE special award for event technology.
This success led them to engage Pixl8 to transform their website into a platform that would drive campaigns and give members easy access to information and services they need to run their businesses.
About the FSB
With over 160k members, the FSB supports a large network of small businesses across the UK by providing guidance, networking opportunities and a range of benefits - all accessible online. They champion the needs of their members by running high profile campaigns to influence policy makers.
What the FSB wanted
A greatly improved website design and user experience for members was a key requirement for the FSB. They also wanted an integrated event booking platform to give users a seamless experience.
Elevating and targeting their regional campaigns was another key goal - requiring a fresh look at their information architecture and technology. They also needed an improved Content Management System that would give their teams greater editorial control.
Reimagining and replatforming the FSB’s old website, spread across several instances, meant a phased approach was needed. It was one that would deliver powerful new online tools and experiences for members, the public and FSB staff.
What Pixl8 delivered
Pixl8’s consultants, developers and designers reviewed and revised every aspect of the FSB’s platform. They delivered innovative digital solutions to help deliver a great website experience:
A full consultancy service
The Pixl8 team worked with the FSB to improve key areas of the website user experience including:
UX & design: reviewed and improved the visual design, copy and language as the foundation for a better user experience
Content: structured the website to have a greater campaign focus to better show the work FSB was doing.
Data: Pixl8 built an API so that the FSB could sync the membership data in their CRM with their website.
This integration lets them deliver tailored content to their members.
And then some
The FSB’s new website and campaign and editorial controls really showed their value in early 2020 when the global pandemic began. The FSB were able to easily keep the public updated on frequently changing government advice.
The FSB continues to work closely with Pixl8 on their digital transformation. Pixl8 has provided recommendations on enhancing FSB events - including SEO and post-event surveys.
Pixl8 has also provided recommendations using Google Analytics - both on improving tracking and revealing trends and business opportunities. The FSB has also asked for Pixl8’s advice on fundraising pages, print brochure content, FSB Awards enhancements and more. Continuous improvement of website user experience for both the public and members is at the heart of the FSB's ongoing digital transformation.
