Senior developer (London)

Pixl8 is currently recruiting for a Senior Web developer to join our 10 strong development team. The position is in our South London office. As a senior developer in our advanced projects team you will be working on a wide number of challenging projects and will be responsible for application development and integration with a wide-range of technologies and back-office systems.

Pixl8 have been pushing the envelope with ColdFusion since version 4.0. We believe it still represents the most effective platform for the work we do. Our main toolkit uses the mighty Open Bluedragon. This role is for an individual looking to cut their teeth on

1. The most advanced projects we do.

2. Working on our contributions to the Open Bluedragon engine

3. Working on our own products including Mobile Application development

We are big believer in the right tool for the job so breadth of experience is important, knowing your way around Linux or Windows servers is important as is working with databases, MySQL, SQL Server and an occasional sprinkling of Oracle.

Qualifications

• A good degree 2:1 or higher in Computer Science or other computing discipline
• 5 years + relevant experience preferably in an agency environment
• Strong Java , C#, Ruby,PHP or ColdFusion experience

Skills

• Strong and diverse technical skills in Web development preferably including JAVA or C#.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
• Ability to work in teams and have strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently.
• Ability to step outside role confines and help teach and enable other team members.
• Demonstrable experience of developing high traffic or complex web applications would be an advantage

Knowledge

• Java, Coldfusion or .NET to an advanced level
• JQuery, XHTML and CSS a plus
• Good understanding of relational database concepts
• Practical MySQL or SQL Server knowledge
• Familiarity developing and integrating web services and API's
• Strong understanding of object-oriented (OOP) development principals
• Comfort with website administration across Linux or Windows platforms
• Subversion experience
• XML and related technologies such as use of web services
• Understanding of common frameworks and design patterns used with CFML
