The Project

West Thames College is one of the most successful colleges of Further and Higher Education in London with a growing reputation for excellence. They are a medium-sized college with around 7,000 students attending to study each year.

West Thames College had a clear vision to deliver an experience to their students that is vibrant, inspiring, promoting cohesion and lays the foundations for prosperity. Along with their values of integrity, excellence, equality and respect the website had to convey these messages to students and all other interest groups, including but not limited to, the general public, academic staff, administrators and governing bodies. A challenge indeed!

West Thames carried out the development of their website during the early part of 2009 and are making full use of the mix of options now available to them to communicate with their audiences. There is a strong emphasis on accessibility compliance with clear promotional panels, contemporary images, clear navigation and the clever use of subject and course listings to allow users to find course details with ease. As you pass through the site, the college makes full use of the features available to them using the powerful Preside content management system (CMS). These include a comprehensive course search and online application form linked directly to the college’s internal course system, student profiles, galleries, news & events, related documents, tube updates and many more.

West Thames has seen significant return on their investment. Here are the highlights.

  • Monthly average visitors have grown significantly through the year from 30,000 to over 80,000 per month
  • Page views have built up through the year to hit a record number of 297,000 in Dec 2009!

The internal college team continue to improve and develop the website using PresideCMS. They have the flexibility to adapt to new requirements and evolve the website, adding exciting features to engage their audiences.
