The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) have received two more awards at the 2010 Trade Union Communications Awards winning the best website and best feature categories.
The PCS website (www.pcs.org.uk), relaunched at in 2008, was praised in last year’s awards for being well-designed and for the way it reflects “a modern, campaigning and active trade union”.
The judges added that the site’s thousands of pages are clearly organised with careful attention given to accessibility.
They liked the wide range of toolkits and resources, said the online debates were “a nice addition” and described our PCS comment section as “great”.
A special feature about our national pay campaign in the September 2008 edition of View was chosen as the winner for arguing strongly what the judges said was an important case for higher pay in the civil service, with powerful case studies from members.
Describing the layout and presentation as “exemplary”, the judges added: “The use of readers’ letters reinforces an already strong argument, and the union’s work is both promoted and supported throughout. An excellent feature.”
The website also won the award for the best use of e-communications for the newly developed 'Motions online' campaign system. The judges liked the way e-campaigning software was integrated into the PCS website.
